Frederick Aiken, a Union war hero and newly minted lawyer, reluctantly agrees to defend Mary Surratt,the only woman accused, before a military tribunal. As the trial unfolds, Aiken realizes hisclient may be innocent and is being used as bait in order to capture the only conspirator to haveescaped the massive manhunt — her own son.
