In the wake of Abraham Lincoln’s assassination, seven men and one woman are arrested and charged with conspiring to kill the president, vice president and secretary of state. Frederick Aiken, a Union war hero and newly minted lawyer, reluctantly agrees to defend Mary Surratt,the only woman accused, before a military tribunal. As the trial unfolds, Aiken realizes hisclient may be innocent and is being used as bait in order to capture the only conspirator to haveescaped the massive manhunt — her own son. Directed by Robert Redford and starring RobinWright, James McAvoy, Kevin Kline, Tom Wilkinson, Jonathan Groff, Justin Long, and AlexisBledel.
